In 2009, Mip landed in Toronto, alone, with a suitcase and 2 guitars determined to prove that a quirky small town kid from northwestern BC could show the city a thing or two about how to wail. Within less than a year she had formed the Mip Power Trio – an eclectic underground rock ‘n’ roll experience that is hailed by loyal fans as Toronto’s best kept secret.

In 2009, Mip landed in Toronto, alone, with a suitcase and 2 guitars determined to prove that a quirky small town kid from northwestern BC could show the city a thing or two about how to wail. Within less than a year she had formed the Mip Power Trio – an eclectic underground rock ‘n’ roll experience that is hailed by loyal fans as Toronto’s best kept secret.
With the Mip Power Trio, Mip has independently released 2 full albums and 2 EPs. Haggard & Bedraggled (2013) was recorded independently in 2013 and Half Pint Full Heart was recorded with the guidance producer Ian McGettigan (Thrush Hermit) in 2015. In February 2023 the band celebrated a double EP release – Caught in Between EP (2020) and Jacked EP (2023) – where they played to a packed house in Toronto’s legendary Dakota Tavern. Following the release party they returned to the studio to record a single for a compilation album and a CanCon cover for a radio program to be released this year. Plans to make a new record in the fall are already in motion.
From dingy dive bars to remote festivals, Mip has a rich performance history including 4 Western Canadian Tours with the Mip Power Trio and a variety of gigs independently or in collaboration with other artists. Some notable shows to date include Edge of the World Festival (Tlell BC), Midsummer Music Festival (Smithers BC), ArtsWells Festival (Wells BC), Blues and Jazz Fest (Orangeville ON), and the Opera House (Toronto ON).
While Mip spends the majority of time on her own musical endeavors, one can also find her performing a range of instruments as part of The Supervoids (vox/bass), Second Wife (vox/drums), and Chloe Watkinson (vox/bass/guitar).
Rest assured, no matter where you see Mip, you will be met with an infectious musical presence that brings out your inner wild child.
