That’s it! That’s the big announcement. You will be able to rock out to a new Mip Power Trio album in 2014.
All through the month of November, Greg, Shane, and I have been working hard with producer/engineer Ian McGettigan to get this album off the ground. We’ve had the luxury of using the studio space for pre-production rehearsals as well as recording which gave Ian more time to get the mics positioned. By this point Greg and Shane have recorded some killer bass/drum tracks and it’s now up to me to rock some guitar over them. The pressure is on. Haha.
I should also note that working with Ian is pretty huge for me on a personal level. When I first received his number I was too nervous to call. I waited well over a month before I could do it. I guess that was my first experience being kinda ‘star-struck’ if you will… See, I’m a huge fan of Joel Plaskett album production and Ian has produced/engineered some of my favourite Plaskett albums such as Ashtray Rock. He’s also been all over Canada as the bass player for Thrush Hermit and it’s inspiring to hear all his stories and think, “Hey, maybe I could do that one day.”
Anyhoo, we are very excited to finally begin this project and you will definitely be hearing more about it as we make further progress.
